The news has brought Visa under the spotlight as it was reported that the company is planning to expand its QR-based to nine more markets, which includes Indonesia, Egypt and Vietnam.
For the unfamiliar, QR based payments allows its users to scan a QR code at the checkout of an online or brick and mortar store to make the payment. To be more specific, it is a mobile solution that provide an easy and secure digital commerce to merchants, financial institutions and consumers in emerging markets. The main aim of this service is to make the process of buying items easier and faster for its users and is also considered secured as well.
Moreover, Visa’s QR code payment system is called mVisa and is currently available in many markets across the globe, including India, Kenya and Rwanda. It is pertinent to note that Visa’s QR code is pretty similar to Easypaisa’s service, which enables its users to use an app on their smartphone to pay online at checkout. However, easypaisa usually require its users to enter information related to their debit and credit cards, but mVisa only asks its users to scan a QR code. The payment is made safely and automatically, allowing its users to safe their valuable time and voiding the risk the involved in entering sensitive information at an online store.
