It has been recently reported that Uber has teamed up with ArabNet to bring UberPITCH in Pakistan. The objective behind this move of the company is to connect Pakistani startups with potential investors. Experts believe that Uber is making efforts to increase its market share in Pakistan by introducing innovative and useful services for its customers.
Realizing the fact that number of startups in Pakistan is growing, Uber Pakistan wishes to connect them with potential investors to help them grow. The concept was first introduced few years ago, when Uber partnered up with Google Ventures in a bid to connect investors with startups. The idea was widely appreciated and since then has been adopted in various countries.
Analysts are of the view that this move is part of the company’s bigger plan to acquire competitive edge over its main rival in Pakistan, Careem, by diversifying its services. The company made the announcement through its official blog:
“For the first time in Pakistan, we’re teaming up with ArabNet to make life-changing moments available at the touch of a button, in 3 cities across Pakistan. Startup warriors, entrepreneurs, and dreamers – your big break is arriving now.”
