The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has set up two mega centers in Karachi incurring a total cost of PKR 370 million in various densely popular areas of the city.
The main purpose of the project is to offer unhindered services to the public with the capacity to process 3,000 applications by each center on a daily basis. Adding to that, Chaudhry Nisar Ali inaugurated the centers in DHA and North Nazimabad. Reports indicate that one more center is being set up in the SITE Area that will start its operation within this month.
Moreover, reports indicate that these new mega centers will have 105 employees working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on a shift basis. It is pertinent to note that when two centers become fully operational, the institution will close its previous centers that are located in district South and Central in a bid to serve citizens betters,
The new mega centers will have the following features:
- One window operation
- 300 seating capacity for people
- 28 counters
- 3 card distribution counters
- 2 form submission counters
- 4 information counters
- 3 counters dedicated for senior citizens and disables
- Quematic machine token system
- 8 form approval officers
- Centrally air-conditioned
- Mineral water facility
- Prayer area facility
- Re-verification of NADRA CNICs
Furthermore, all the aforementioned features can be accessed under one roof which has been the problem with the previous centers. Increase in the capabilities of each center will make sure that citizens get facilitated in a comfortable and friendly environment. Also, speaking with the media, the interior minister said that approximately 324,000 CNICs have been blocked in order to re-verify them. Among them, 174,000 CNICs will be restored after re-verification of the individuals, whereas 150,000 CNICs are blocked permanently.
