As the awareness of e-commerce platforms is increasing and internet seems to become an indispensable need for the people in our country, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that mobile data usage in the country has surged significantly over the last few months. To support the claim, mobile users in Pakistan consume over 65 Petabytes of mobile data during last month.
According to the details, the data usage of mobile phone users in Pakistan is increasing aggressively- since the launch of 3G/4G service in Pakistan in 2014- as it hit 65,167 TBs of data during last month, up from 29,765 TBs in March 2016.
According to information presented by Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, Chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) at event that recently held, here’s how much mobile data people in Pakistan consume on their cell phone:
- 3G data usage: 43,032 TBs during March 2017
- 4G data usage: 19,266 TBs during March 2017
- 2G data usage: 2,869 TBs during March 2017
- Total Data Usage: 65,167 TBs during March 2017
Looking at the figures mentioned above, 4G connections are now almost half of those used by 3G connections. Adding to that, 4G users currently stand at 4 million compared to 35 million 3G users. Also, it is important to note that 2G data usage is finally on the decline as cellular companies have expanded their 3G and 4G coverage to wider areas and the demand of 2G data is finally declining.
