A special premium business lounge of a well-known Gulf headquartered airline has been inaugurated at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. The growing trend of establishing premium business lounges at airports shows that interest of people in first class travel is increasing all around the world.
“I feel like I am at New York’s airport,” Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair Umar said while addressing a gathering at the inauguration. “This [marhaba] is one of the best luxury facilities built in Pakistan,” the governor added. He also advised contractors to maintain its quality for travelers.
Moreover, a ground handler of international flights in Pakistan, Gerry’s Dnata, has been made responsible to operate the lounge. It is pertinent to note that this is only a part of $22 million investment that the company has made in the country in the last 18 months.
“In keeping with the increasing traffic at Karachi airport, we anticipate serving more than 20,000 customers a year,” Dnata President Gary Chapman said. “As more passengers discover the ease and delight of travelling with our help, we look forward to an even more exciting future” he added.
Aside from the new business lounge, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is also operating a less fancy but similar lounge at Jinnah International Airport for the past several years. In any case, this is a great initiative as passengers often complain about lack of top-notch business lounges at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.
