Good news for developers, coders and Python enthusiasts, as the first ever Python Conference (PyCon) has been announced for Pakistan. PyCon is held in different countries to promote the programming language, the first Pakistan version will be held in Lahore from October 28th-29th, 2017.
Developers in Pakistan are lucky that they will be witnessing the event as the interest in the language continues to increase. Due to its inherent use in data science and machine learning, currently considered as the hottest career options in great demand, Python is the most popular coding language leading the likes of Java and PHP.
PyCon Pakistan will help in promoting the language in Pakistan and will help programmers to interact with each other, and get the opportunity to learn from the best Python programmers.
How to Attend PyCon Pakistan as Guest?
In order to attend PyCon Pakistan, attendees will need to purchase a ticket:
- Students (with valid ID) can buy a ticket for PKR 500
- Industry Professionals entry fee is PKR 1,500.
Attendees have an option to pay in advance online or via cash at the conference venue. In order to make payment by cash, click on the Pay Later option then click on Other Payment Options and on the checkout screen select “Pay at the door”.
In order to register for the event, a total time of 8 minutes is given in which the ticket buyer has to feed in general information like Name, Email address, phone number, CNIC, and Organization / Institute name. In case you fail to register within the 8 minutes then the reservation will be released for other participants.

How to Attend PyCon Pakistan as Speaker?
The advantage of being a speaker at PyCon Pakistan is the free entry. Prospective speakers need to submit an online proposal that will go through a screening process, either through a submission form or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For emailed proposals, the following format has to be followed:
- Name and contact number
- The organization/institution affiliated with
- Proposal title
- Type of Content: general talk, or a demo/hands-on tutorial.
- Abstract: Public summary for the PyCon website and conference program
- Target Audience: indicate the intended audience and difficulty level: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced.

PyCon Pakistan is looking for two types of proposals – Workshops or Talks.
Workshops have a time limit of 90 minutes for tutorials to enhance their Python skills.
Talks are alloted 45 minutes for a presentation with the help of visuals.
The time slot for both Talks and Workshops include questions from the audience.
Topics that the speakers can cover include History of Python and its evolution, features, application of the language, testing and debugging, comparison with other languages, libraries and frameworks, and Python paradigms.
