The contribution of Pakistan in the startup culture might appear insignificant by the global standards, but for a nation that has not been exposed to the concepts of accelerators and incubators for quite a long time, the progress Pakistan has made in this realm is phenomenal. The recent increase in the number of startups in the country has been noticed by many foreign firms as they have started taking interest in collaborating with Pakistani startups. It has been recently reported that Facebook is planning to hold a Startup Masterclass event in Karachi, next month. The main aim of this event is to promote the startup culture in Pakistan.

Home to over two billion users, Facebook is a global phenomenon too big for anyone to ignore. Brands all across the world use Facebook to market their products and engage with their audience. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Facebook is a very important arsenal for startups.

However, it is a fact that not many startups in Pakistan have been able to fully exploit Facebook’s potential.

About the event

The event is designed to help startups benefit from the company’s ecosystem and the countless opportunities it presents. Startup Masterclass is a half-day session, organized by Facebook itself, and hosted in collaboration with Institute of Business Administration’s (IBA) Computer Science Society.

A team from the tech giant will provide an introduction to the attendees during the event about Facebook’s developers, ads, and messenger platforms. The primary objective of this event is to help people understand how they can use Facebook to promote their businesses. The team will also provide information about its developer products, marketing APIs and others.

The event page indicates that it will cover both technical content and user growth strategies. The social media giant recommends startups to send two people – one from product/engineering department and one from marketing department, to attend the event.

The event will be held on 5th September at IBA’s Main Campus, KU Circular Road, Karachi. Also, those who wish to attend the event should navigate to the registration page and click on “Apply Now.”
