It has been recently reported that Bank Alfalah has received the Best Bank Award for 2017 for manifesting “the most significant contribution to national development and the most effective management of its resources, including its employees, clients, franchise community and financials.”
The bank received the award at the second Pakistan Banking Awards, jointly organized by the Institute of Bankers, A.F. Ferguson and Co. and Dawn Media Group yesterday.
The bank was also declared the Best Bank for Customer Franchise. The award was presented to the bank for expanding and extending its Islamic franchise and raising public awareness.
It is pertinent to note that six other banks were also given awards in eight different categories in second Pakistan Banking Awards. Telenor Microfinance Bank was declared the Best Bank for the Unbanked for focusing on financial inclusion by expanding its outreach through low-income urban penetration and diversification among all segments of account holders.
On the other hand, Habib Bank was declared the Best Bank for Small Business and Agriculture for its overall performance, diversification and quality of SME and agriculture lending nationwide.
Moreover, United Bank Limited (UBL) was declared the Best Bank for Corporate Finance and Capital Market Development. Whereas, Meezan Bank received the Best Islamic Bank Award for its efforts to expand its Islamic banking franchise and increasing public awareness.
JS Bank received the Best Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Bank Award for its conduct of responsible business.
