The competition in Pakistan’s telecom industry is growing and all players are striving to offer better services to their users in a bid to acquire competitive edge over each other. It seems that Telenor Pakistan is doing quite well in this competitive market, as the company reported its second quarter’s earnings for the current fiscal year today. The financial report shows that the multinational telecom operator has experienced a surge of 11% in its total revenue to PKR 26.11 billion, which marks an increase of PKR 23.49 billion compared to the similar time frame last year.
The company experienced growth in its revenue during the reported duration mainly because of the surge in subscription, traffic and higher incoming international traffic.
It is pertinent to note that Telenor’s Easypaisa has been moved under Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited and its revenues are not shown in the company’s financial results. Similar revisions were made to reflect changes in last year’s financial results as well.
Telenor’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) also improved by 14%, but were partly offset by higher operating expense related to network expansion. In addition, the company has been working to expand its network nationwide. Telenor during the reported quarter has expanded its 4G network across the country.
